The Poschiavino is a river, that is born in the Retiche Alps near the Forcola of Livigno (Val Laguné) at 2260 m a.s.l. and crosses the Valposchiavo, the trail taker the name exactly from it.
The Mortirolo pass (1.852 m), also called "passo della Foppa", connects the Valtellina valley to the val Camonicavalley, for many years it was a secondary gravel road. The Mortirolo became famous in 1990, when it was included in the road tour of the Giro d'Italia.
From Livigno, bike-shuttle till the Forcola pass, riding the Poschiavino trail till Poschiavo town. Take again the bike-shuttle till the Mortirolo pass driving through the Poschiavo valley in Switzerland. Uphill by bike directed to the Monte Varadega till 2.500 m a.s.l. and then downhill till Grosio 648 m a.s.l.
In the tour there are 2 long descents, the Poschiavino trail is very funny S2. The Tornantissima trail is an S3, there are some spots with the cliff on the side with some rocky swichbacks at the higher part, the lower part in the forest is less technical and more fun with many swichbacks on a compact terrain that provides with a great grip.
